Myth - It is a common myth that adding custom mini maps to the game cause an increase in “lag” because of the extra memory they use.  This is not entirely true.  While some of the mini maps may be larger than the original game maps they are loaded dynamically only when needed.  The game loads the mini maps one at a time into the mini map window as you move from zone to zone.  This means that at any one time only one of the maps is loaded into memory at a time.  The slightly larger maps can take up some additional memory than their Mythic counterpart, but not enough to cause noticeable increases in lag.
